About this PDF to Excel converter
This free PDF to Excel converter extracts text and table data from PDF files and organises it into a spreadsheet. It supports both text-based PDFs and scanned PDFs using OCR. Your file is never uploaded anywhere — everything runs in your browser.
How it works
Select or drop a PDF file. A preview of the pages appears so you can confirm the file. Then click Convert — the tool extracts text page by page, aligning content into columns. Scanned pages are processed with OCR automatically. The result is exported as .xlsx.
Frequently asked questions
- Does this tool support scanned PDFs? ▾
- Yes. When a scanned page is detected, OCR runs automatically in your browser using Tesseract. The first run downloads about 20 MB of language data which is then cached.
- Is my PDF uploaded to a server? ▾
- No. Your PDF is processed entirely in your browser. Nothing is uploaded to any server and your data never leaves your device.
- Why is OCR slow? ▾
- OCR analyses each page as an image and recognises text character by character. This takes 10–30 seconds per page depending on your device. Subsequent uses are faster because the language data is cached.
- What does the Excel file contain? ▾
- All text extracted from the PDF, organised into rows and columns based on the position of each text element on the page.
- Is this PDF to Excel converter free? ▾
- Yes, completely free. No sign-up, no download and no ads. Works entirely in your browser.
